Editors

The idea of setting up a magazine about art in the Baltic countries originated from the group of people preparing the first Baltic art exhibition in Szczecin, Poland in 1995. The draft of the magazine was put together by Lech Karwowski and Magdalena Lewoc at the beginning of 1996. The basic concept was for a periodical containing essays and information about art in the Baltic region. The small Szczecin editorial team was to work with the network of associated editors responsible for collecting materials in their area, with the help of various institutions wishing to support the project. The first meeting organizational meeting attended by critics and curators was held in Szczecin in 1996. From among these a team willing to co-operate to make the Szczecin draft a finished publication was formed. These were, apart from the authors of the draft : Jesper Dalmose from Copenhagen, Märit Ehn from Visby, Lars Kaerulf Moller from Bornholm and Aneta Szyłak from Gdańsk. Subsequent meetings saw the recruitment of Ekaterina Andreeva from St. Petersburg, William Easton from Stockholm, Jonas Valatkevičius form Vilnius, Irena Buzinska from Riga, Irmeli Kokko from Helsinki, Michael Haerdter from Berlin, Miro Zahra from Plüschow, Heie Treier from Tallinn. In the following years the new board members were incorporated into the editorial team: Katrin Arrieta from Rostock and Evelyn Holm from Bergen.
